TENNECO LAUNCHES DISK SPRING INTAKE SYSTEM
Marks the next level in innovative valve technology for shock absorbers Brussels, Belgium, May 12, 2008 –Tenneco (NYSE:TEN) announced today the launch of an innovative Disk Spring Intake (DSI) valve that enables vehicle manufactures to tune the ride of their vehicles to achieve desired ride performance, optimizing the balance between comfort and NVH (noise, vibration and harshness), while maintaining durability and damping consistency. “Introducing the new DSI valve system reflects our commitment to continuously providing technologically advanced solutions to our customers,” said Karel Van Bael, vice president and general manager, European original equipment ride control, Tenneco. “DSI is another Tenneco technology that offers both ride comfort and better handling.” The innovation, designed and tested at Tenneco’s Monroe Engineering and Technical Center in Sint Truiden, Belgium, uses features of Tenneco’s monotube blow off valving system in a double tube system as piston intake. Unlike conventional “clamped intake” and “sliding intake designs,” the new DSI system allows the independent tuneability of intake force levels and force rates – while keeping NVH under control. The system also incorporates special tooling and precise controlling devices used during the manufacturing process. . Tenneco’s DSI technology will be featured on 3 European vehicles that will be launched later this year in Europe.
